Mix and Match Scrubs

by Maternity Scrubs on April 30, 2010

Plain white work attire for nurses has been a thing of the past for a long time. Most nurses no longer have to wear a single color uniform which was usually white. Instead colorful scrubs have taken over. There are still the single color layouts like blue, green, and other variations, but TV shows like Grey’s Anatomy (buy the Grey’S Anatomy Mock Wrap Princess Seam Top here) have helped to even mix up those styles. Being a nurse does no longer mean to wear a boring outfit to work.

But with the colors came also problems. What color works well with which layout? How can you mix and match scrubs of different kind without looking like color-blind person (no offense intended). Picking the wrong color mix can have an even bigger impact to you and the people around you. Color choices can affect the mood of people, too and so it can be helpful to know what works best.

Consider wearing white scrub pants with a bright yellow top. The result is a really fresh, energizing look. Yellow is considered a very powerful color that equals sunlight and optimism. In plain words, it can energize you and lift your motivation.

Feeling Blue. You can use a pair of blue scrub pants (buy blue maternity scrub pants here) and consider them the same thing as a pair of Blue Jeans when thinking about a matching top. Almost every color that would fit a pair of Blue Jeans, will work with your blue scrub pants, too. Lighter shades of green and purple look terrific with darker blue scrub pants. Orange and Yellow scrub tops work great, too. Blue is a calming color (even recommended for your bedroom where you sleep at night) and so it can be a good choice for when you already you are going to have a busy day.

Black – I personally do not consider black scrubs a good choice. But if you are into black, stick to black scrub pants and pick a brighter color for your scrub tops.

Going Green. Green is a standard color for scrubs and works with a single color layout as well as brown, dark blue, purple, and dark red.

Red Hot Colors. Rosy reds, light pink, or purple work well for scrub tops. All  these colors have a calming effect and allow for different colored scrub pants.

There are many other considerations in regards to color. But color is a completely different topic when it comes to identifying which color combination’s can create more extreme emotions like anger, hate, or grief, or melancholy.
